mr. watanabe from jomon shimbun newspaper (biggest newspaper in gunma) interviewed me about the exhibition today. we had a nice conversation.. i think he understood what i was trying to say… it got me excited about doing tom thumb again. i just wish it wasnt so hard to convince people that it would be in their best interest to participate more.
-
tomorrow Neba and i are starting to build a wood-fired oni castle for the exhibition. we’ll also decide what to do about a possible mikoshi (poryable shrine)… we talked about building one last week, but it might be an insane amount of work to get it done in time.. normally it takes years and 10s of thousands of dollars to make one.

i opened up this blog for people to register and submit content. this means you can post images, videos, links or whatever. only if it is incredibly offensive will i remove it. i just wanted to try that and see what happens, if anything.
so click on REGISTER on the top left, make an account and post why you are more important than me.
-
i’m trying a few different things with the ONi TEN part of the site still. I was going to make it a forum but coulndt find a japanese one and thought it would be too complicated for some people to use anyway. pleaze be patient and keep checking the site for updates.

we’ve been dragging a shrine around all weekend. didnt get much done in the studio but got to walk around in the middle of the street drinking continuously for 48 hours, screaming at the top of my lungs while little old ladies looked on with approving smiles.
perfectly acceptable behavior at the time.

i was testing microsoft’s bing search engine today since an article in the NY times claimed it was superior to google in some ways. i didnt find anything special about it but i ran across the school newspaper i worked at in college, The Monitor and to my surprise found out they digitally archived ALL of their issues….
I looked through several of them, read some of Paz and Co’s rants but am still looking for Jimmy’s infamous interview regarding the university president.
-

im making a japanese version of this blog dedicated to out upcoming ONI TEN exhibition. (thanks jimmy)

-
this weekend there is a big traditional music festival here in Onishi. the guys pulling the mikoshi shrine have been forcing alcohol on me 24 hours a day and i they might make me wear a japanese diaper for the procession today…. i dont think im going to get much done in the studio.
